Stainless 430 belongs to ferritic stainless grade. The 430 Stainless
Steel Sheet non-hardenable steel component is designed with an
excellent chemical composition consisting of chromium with small
additions of nickel. This 430 SS Sheet offers excellent corrosion
and oxidation resistance in an array of stress-induced
environments. The highly tolerant 430 Grade Stainless Steel Sheet
shows enhanced resistance to cracking by organic, acetic, nitric,
and phosphoric acids.
Thickness of our Stainless Steel Strip & Coils
SS sheets and plates are the two most common shaped components
within this stainless grade. The thickness of a SS 430 plate is
above 6mm. These modules are utilized in providing rigidity and
support to different modules. A 430 Stainless Steel Sheet Thickness
is less than 6mm. These components are devised to provide an
aesthetical appeal to the module along with weight saving.

Stainless Steel 430 & Stainless Steel 304
Stainless 430 and 304 belong to two different spectrums in the
stainless grade.
- A 430 SS Plate is designed with a chemical composition of 16-18%
chromium and 0.50% nickel. A 304 has a chemical content of 18%
chromium coupled with 8% nickel.
- The ASTM A240 Type 430 Plate offers limited weldability compared to
the excellent weldability offered by the 304 grade.
- The 304-grade components can be hardened but, the ASME SA240 430
Stainless Sheet cannot be hardened.
- Having a maximum intermittent service temperature of 850 degrees C,
the 304 grade shows high ductility and formability. The SS 430 Shim
Sheet is less ductile and formable compared to this grade.
- The austenitic 304 grade is more expensive when put in direct
comparison with the ferritic UNS S43000 Strip.
430 Stainless Steel vs 316L Stainless Steel
Stainless 316 grade is designed with a superior chemical
concentration of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. In comparison,
the SS 430 shows the presence of higher chromium content and a
small amount of nickel. The excellent chemical composition gives
the 316 grade higher tolerance and resistance across different
stress-induced environments compared to the 430 grade. The 316
stainless grade has better mechanical properties, however, the
thermal properties of both these grades are identical. The 430
grade is cheaper in comparison to the 316 SS grade.
